WHAT IS LIMESTONE ?
Limestone is a sedimentary rock. It most commonly forms in clear, warm, shallow marine waters. It is usually an organic sedimentary rock that forms from the accumulation of shell, coral, algal, and fecal debris. It can also be a chemical sedimentary rock formed by the precipitation of calcium carbonate from lake or ocean water.
ARE THERE DIFFERENT TYPES OF LIMESTONE ?
There are many different types of limestone. What makes the Stone’s different is how they are formed over time. These names are based upon how the rock formed, its appearance or its composition, and other factors. Here are some of the more commonly used varieties.
Travertine, believe it or not, is a type of Limestone. What makes Travertine different from other Limestones is the way that it is formed. Travertine forms by evaporative precipitation, often in a cave, to produce formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstone.
Other types of Limestone include: Chalk, Coquina, Fossiliferous Limestone, Lithographic Limestone, Oolitic Limestone & Tufa.

WHAT USES DOES IT HAVE ?
Limestone has had many uses throughout the centuries. Such as creating landmarks like the Pyramids, Palace of Westminster and many others, being a fundamental construction stone through history.
In more modern times limestone has been used extensively as a construction material through Europe, North America and here in Australia.
It is also used for flooring and cladding as well as kitchen and bathroom bench tops. Due to Limestone’s durable and hardy nature, it can be used for a multitude of applications, with custom designed Basins, Water features, statues and many others.
